The News has been a voice for its community since the early 1870s. We’re family owned and proud to be one of New Zealand’s few remaining independent newspapers. We’re produced, printed and published in Westport, daily Monday to Friday.

Westport is Buller’s main town, serving a population of 10,000. Buller, Grey and Westland make up the West Coast of the South Island.

The region (pop 30,000) is New Zealand’s scenic wonderland with rainforests, glaciers, mountains and limestone caves. West Coasters are famous for their warm hospitality, fierce independence and individuality.
